Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer, Kia Motors Europe, commented: “Kia continues to go from strength to strength in Europe, as we have enjoyed our best ever start to a year. It’s pleasing to see our most recently launched models outpace our own sales projections, with the Sorento in particular proving a sales hit for our dealers across the continent. The message is clear – consumers are increasingly drawn to Kia’s high quality, design-driven range of cars.”
Impressive sales of Sportage, Sorento, Soul and Rio
Though the Kia Sportage is now in its fifth full year of production, it continues to grow in popularity among European motorists, with 9,059 sold across Europe in April – 11.8% more than in the same month last year. The Kia Rio also found more buyers in April than in previous years (5,699, +18.9% year-on-year). Both the Sportage and Rio were updated in 2014 with a range of visual and dynamic enhancements.
Kia’s record start has also been pushed by rising sales of the all-new Kia Sorento, with 2,902 sold so far this year, and the Kia Soul, which only recently went on-sale across Europe. So far this year, 3,880 Soul models have been sold to European buyers, with the Soul EV – Kia’s first globally-sold battery-electric vehicle – accounting for more than a fifth of sales (786 units year-to-date).
All models in Kia’s European line-up continue to be sold with the brand’s unique 7-Year, 150,000 km warranty.
